Famous Horses
- Alexander The Great and Bucephalus.
Bucephalus was a massive creature with a massive head, which is probably why Alexander named him "Ox head." Bucephalus is described as having a black coat with a large white star on his forehead. He also had a wall eye (a blue eye.) and his breeding was of "the best Thassalian breed." No one could tame Bucephalus, so he was sold to the king for 13 talents. Young Alexander promised to pay for the horse himself if he could not tame it, since his father -the king- was not interested. Turns out the horse Bucephalus was afraid of his own shadow. Alexander turned the horse just so he couldn't see his shadow, and hopped right on! After the boy and horse connected, they went on many sieges together. Accounts state that Bucephalus died right after the Battle of the Hydaspes in 326 BC.
2. Roy Rogers and Trigger
Trigger was a golden palomino stallion born in California. He was born in 1932 or 1934. Triggers original name was Golden Cloud. When Trigger was three he was sold to a Hollywood stable that provided horses for shows.
Roy Rogers was a young singing cowboy who was about to get a role in his first show. Many horses were brought to him to be tried for the show, and he chose Golden Cloud. And one day when Roy Rogers was practicing a quick-draw for the movie, his side kick in the movie suggested the name of Trigger, because the horse was so fast. From then on the horse was named Trigger. Later on Roy Rogers bought the horse from the movies so he could ride him on his own time as well as in movies.
